Honda Pilot Help

The Honda Pilot is a crossover sport-utility vehicle manufactured by Honda since 2003 and saw a significant redesign in 2009. While Honda has a reputation for high quality cars, the Pilot has had some known problems, which, if necessary, can be repaired by a Honda factory shop or someone specializing in Japanese imports.

Common Problems

Difficulty shifting or noisy gear changes are some of the more well-known defects of older model pilots and are due to a faulty transmission. An electronic diagnostic can identify the problem. There have also been a number of issues with electrical accessories within the vehicle such as the power windows and the radio. The electrical issues arise from the ignition and may result in difficulty starting the vehicle. Other complaints have centered around the Pilots lack of power and poor fuel economy which stem from the 2009 redesign in which the same engine was used in a heavier vehicle.

Recalls

The Pilot has seen a number of recalls since its release due to a number of issues including unsafe bike racks, leaking fuel and improperly built steering columns. The 2003 model experienced the greatest number of problems.
