How to Make Lexus Keys

Lexus is a high-end brand of vehicles and feature intelligent keys in their newer models. To obtain extra or replacement car keys for a Lexus, running down to the corner hardware store isnt an option. Youll need to contact a professional locksmith or Lexus dealership. Both have the tools to create keys that feature computer chips programmed to match the interior computer of your particular Lexus vehicle.

Obtain the vehicle identification number (VIN) from your Lexus. Retrieve this number from your purchase, insurance, registration or title paperwork. The easiest place to find the VIN is on your Lexus windshield in the bottom left corner, visible from outside of your vehicle.

Contact your local Lexus dealership or professional locksmith company to request new keys for your Lexus.

Provide the Lexus dealership or locksmith with your vehicles VIN. The digits of the VIN will tell the key maker what type of computer chip is located in your vehicle so they know what type to input into your key and how to program your key to you car.

Pay for your new keys. Smart, or intelligent, keys are expensive. The average price is around $200 per key.
