Chevrolet is the manufacturer of the Camaro, a two-door sports car. Introduced in 1967, the Camaro was one of Chevys major sellers until the company shut down production of the Camaro in 2002, which was declining in popularity. In 2010, the Camaro was re-introduced. If you are the owner of a Chevy Camaro and you need to have a new car key cut for your Camaro youll need to obtain certain information.
Instructions
1 Locate the vehicle identification number (VIN) of your Camaro. This number is located on your purchase paperwork, your registration and your insurance card. The VIN will allow Chevrolet to acquire your key code, which tells the key maker exactly how to cut your new key to fit in your vehicle.
2 Visit your local Chevy dealerships service and/or parts department. Chevrolets official website allows you to input your zip code to locate the Chevy dealership nearest you.
3 Give the service/parts department at Chevy your VIN, your Camaros registration and your photo identification. This information is needed to prove ownership of the vehicle, as Chevy will not cut keys, even with the VIN, without proof of ownership as a theft deterrent. Wait while your key is cut, which only takes a few minutes, and pay for your new keys.

Most automobiles are sold with multiple sets of keys. It is possible to misplace all the keys for your car. If you do lose all your cars keys, it is often possible to take the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) to a dealer for a replacement key. A locksmith can be expensive and should be your option of last resort. If you present the VIN and proof of ownership to a dealer, they can get a replacement key from the manufacturer.
Instructions
1 Locate the VIN and note it. An autos VIN is usually stamped on a metal plate near the drivers side of the dashboard. The VIN can also be found inside the engine compartment, stamped on the engine or on a metal tag attached to the engine.
2 Take the VIN along with personal photo identification and proof of ownership to a dealer for that particular model of vehicle.
3 Present your proof of ownership to the dealer. A registration or title in your name, indicating the VIN, is the best proof of ownership.
4 Wait while the dealer contacts the manufacturer and has a duplicate key made. This process can take anywhere from a few hours to a few days.

Officially, only a certified smog inspection station can tell you if your vehicle is smog compliant in California. When you bring an out-of-state vehicle into California, a certified technician can let you know what repairs or adjustments must be done for your vehicle to meet the requirements. If you plan to register your car in California, it must meet the minimum smog-control requirements or fall under one of the categories for exemption. Owners of vehicles that are 6 or less model years old pay a smog abatement fee in lieu of getting their vehicles tested.
Instructions
1 Visit the California Bureau of Automotive Repair website at bar.ca.gov. Click on "Find a Station" in the left margin. Click on "Current Active Smog Stations." Enter your ZIP code to find stations near you. Check that the station you select is in the same county in which you plan to register your vehicle; different counties may have different regulations.
2 Contact the smog inspection station directly to confirm it is state certified and to make an appointment. These organizations are private and not regulated by the government, so contact several stations to find the best price.
3 Bring your vehicle to the station and say it needs a smog inspection to be sure it complies with California requirements. The test should take no longer than an hour. The technician will provide you with a certificate, or inform you if the car needs repairs or adjustments to meet the minimum certification requirements. If your car needs repairs, the same station can generally do them. Register your car within 90 days; the certificate is invalid after that time.

There could be a few reasons that you need to make a new key for your auto. You might have lost your old key or maybe you want to have a spare key on hand just in case. Making a new auto key these days is a little more complicated than is used to be. Modern auto keys contain programmed microchips that are specific to your particular auto. This means you cant simply head down to the local key shop and have a duplicate made. You will have to work with your car dealer.
Instructions
1 Locate the vehicle identification number (VIN) on your auto. This number can be found on the right side of your dashboard near the windshield, under the hood, or on the inside of the drivers side door.
2 Go to the dealership where you purchased your car or any dealership that sells the make and model of your car. For example, if you own a Ford Fusion, you would visit a Ford dealer. You may need to call in advance to make an appointment. An added benefit of an appointment is that it could help you avoid a long wait at the dealership.
3 Give the employee at the dealership your VIN and drivers license. This is required for security and identification purposes and it will establish that you are the rightful owner of the car. If you are making a duplicate key and have the original, give that key to the dealer.
4 Wait for the dealers employee to make a new key. The key will be programmed with the security codes unique to your car. The entire procedure will take about one hour.

Vehicle car keys are equipped with key codes that allow for locksmiths or automobile dealerships to create new keys for any vehicle. The key code is included in the purchase paperwork of any new or used car and its job is to inform key makers how to cut the key to make it specific to your vehicle. If you cannot locate the key code for your vehicle when you need a duplicate car key made, you can use the vehicle identification number instead.
Instructions
1 Contact a car dealership or professional locksmith in your area to have a new key made for your vehicle.
2 Provide the dealer or locksmith with the key code or the vehicle identification number (VIN) of your vehicle. The VIN tells key makers the code for your car key, allowing them to create a new key for your vehicle.
3 Prove to the dealer or locksmith that you are the owner of the vehicle by presenting your photo identification and either your insurance card, title or registration or your purchase paperwork from the car dealership.

A sine plate allows parts manufacturers to precisely measure unusual angles. Composed of two parallel metal plates attached to a metal bar, the sine plate opens and closes at one end -- like a hinge -- allowing the user to set it at a particular angle. Sine plates are often used by do-it-yourself auto parts makers who do not have access to a commercial machine shop.
Instructions
1 Cut the 1-inch steel rod in half lengthwise. Weld this semicircular piece to the bottom of one of the metal plates, 6 inches from the hinge end.
2 Mill a shelf 1/4-inch deep by 1/2-inch wide into the hinge end of each plate. Cut the steel tubing into five segments, welding them alternately to each metal plate in the shelf at the hinge end. Insert the 3/8-inch steel rod to form the hinge holding the plates together.
3 Drill and tap 1/4-inch holes every inch on the sides of the plates, starting at the hinge and working outward.
4 Bolt the turnbuckles to the outer sides of the plates, then attach the gauge block between the semicircular rod and the hinge.
5 Drill holes into the top and bottom plates at appropriate places for mounting the sine plate bottom to your work table, and the top to the parts you will be working on.

A vehicles ignition switch is inside its steering column and is the mechanical device that sends a signal from the key to the engine to turn over. A key operates the ignition switch. In many late-model vehicles the ignition switch is programmed to work with specific car keys by using a pre-programmed key code. Acquiring new keys for your vehicle requires knowing your key code so the company cutting your keys can cut them to fit your ignition.
Instructions
1 Find the vehicle identification number on your vehicle. Typically, VINs are on the paperwork you signed and received when you purchased your vehicle, on your insurance card, title and registration and on the inside panel of the drivers door.
2 Call your vehicles service department or dealership to order a new key. Provide the dealership the VIN for your car. Your VIN contains a specialized key code that works only for your vehicle. This code will allow your dealership to correctly cut and shave your key to the correct size.
3 Pick up and pay for your new key. Use the owners manual that came with your vehicle to correctly program your new key to work with the vehicles ignition switch and computerized key code.
