How to Replace Your 2002 Honda Accords Air Conditioning Filter

Replacing the air conditioning filter, also known as a cabin air filter, in your 2002 Honda Accord is a little involved but only requires a single screwdriver to complete the repair. A replacement filter for the Accord is available from the dealer; however, aftermarket filters are also available from auto parts stores, which may be a little cheaper if you are working on a budget.

Instructions

    1

    Sit in the passengers seat of your Accord with the door open. Locate and remove the two locking tabs on either side of the glove compartment then remove the three mounting screws inside the box with a Phillips head screwdriver.

    Pull the access panel below the glove compartment loose and remove the two screws below the glove compartment with the screwdriver. Pull the glove compartment out of the dash and set it aside.

    Remove the screws from the ends of the metal bar with the screwdriver then remove the bar from the dash. Set it aside and locate the white filter behind it. Pull up the access door in front of the filter then pull the filter out of the housing. Discard the old filter.

    Slide a new filter into the housing, slide the access door over the filter then position the metal bar onto the dash over the filter housing. Install the retaining screws and tighten them with the screwdriver.

    Push the glove compartment assembly back into the dash and install the retaining screws under the box as well as the three screws on the inside of the box. Use the screwdriver to tighten all the screws until they are snug.

    Depress the two locking tabs into place, one on either side of the glove compartment, then snap the lower access panel onto the dash. Close the glove compartment.

How to Change Your MerCruiser Oil

To ensure that your MerCruiser engine powers your boat sufficiently, it is important to change its oil every year or after 100 hours of use, whichever comes first. Changing your MerCruisers oil requires you to hand pump the oil out of the system before refilling the crankcase and replacing the oil filter.

Instructions

    1

    Run your MerCruiser engine for ten to fifteen minutes to ensure that the oil in the engine is properly warmed up. This will aid in the siphoning of the oil from the engine.

    Remove the dipstick.

    Attach the threaded oil pump to the threaded end of the hole from which you took the dipstick. The specialty threaded oil pump can be purchased from a boating store or supplier.

    Unscrew and remove the oil fill cap.

    Punch a hole into the top of the oil filter with an awl and a hammer. Punching a hole into the oil filter before siphoning the oil from the engine will allow air to enter the crankcase and help in the pumping process.

    Crank the hand pump until your MerCruisers crankcase is drained of oil. Drain the oil into an oil tray.

    Use a strap wrench to remove the old oil filter.

    Wipe the point at which the new oil filter will attach to the engine to remove all debris before wiping new engine oil around the edges of the connection.

    Reattach the new oil filter by hand.

    Fill your MerCruiser with the amount of oil specified in your owners manual.

How to Reset the Security Code for Your Radio in a 2001 Mitsubishi Galant

As a theft deterrent system, Mitsubishi programs its car radios with a 4-digit code that locks the audio system when tampered with. Trouble is that sometimes the system locks up even on legitimate owners, leaving them without the ability to play compact discs or use the radio.



If you see a prompt that reads "Code," dont sweat it, the user manual should contain a reset code. If no manual is available, Mitsubishi hosts a website which will send you the code as long as you have your vehicles VIN and the radios model and serial numbers.

Instructions

Locate and reset the lock code

    Locate 2001 your original Galant owners manual. Note that it must be the one that came with your vehicle; replacement manuals will not have the appropriate code.

    2

    Insert key into ignition and set to "ON" or "RUN" position. Turn on radio.

    3

    Enter 4-digit code that appears in owners manual by depressing preset buttons on the radio deck.

How to Tell if Your 2001 Toyota Camry Camshaft Positioning Sensor Is Bad

In 2001, Toyota Camrys were manufactured with multiple engine options. In base form, the Camry came equipped with the 2.2-liter DOHC inline four-cylinder engine which offered buyers excellent fuel economy at a reasonable price. In upgraded form, the Camry came equipped with a more powerful 3.0-liter DOHC V6 that provided more power with slightly increased price tag. The camshafts in each engine are monitored by a camshaft position sensor that records the position of the camshafts in relation to the crankshaft. The positional information is used by the PCM to alter ignition timing and ensure that the engine runs smoothly. A faulty camshaft sensor can cause symptoms such as stalling, sputtering, and lack of power. Checking the resistance on camshaft sensor terminals and comparing that to a specified value is the proper way to determine the whether the camshaft sensor is operating properly.

Instructions

2.2-Liter Engine

    1

    Open the hood and locate the camshaft position sensor. It is bolted to the lower-right side of the valve cover assembly, on the front side of the engine block. Its a small black sensor with a two-wire connector attached to it.

    Disconnect the sensors electrical connector by depressing the locking tab on the connector and pulling it away from the sensor.

    3

    Measure the resistance across the camshaft sensors pin terminals with a digital multimeter.

    4

    Compare the resistance value on the digital multimeter to the specified value. The specified resistance value for the 2.2-liter engine is 835 to 1,400 Ohms when cold and 1,060 to 1645 Ohms when hot. If the sensors resistance value is outside these parameters then the sensor must be replaced.

3.0-Liter Engine

    Open the hood and locate both camshaft position sensors; in the V6 engine there are twoone in each cylinder head. The sensor itself is located on the back rear corner of each cylinder head. It is black, just like the sensor for the 2.2-liter engine and has the same two-wire connector attached to it.

    Disconnect the electrical connectors on each sensor by depressing the locking tab and pulling the sensor connector off of the sensors connector flange.

    7

    Measure the resistance across each sensors two pin terminals and record that value on a piece of paper.

    8

    Compare the resistance value against the specified values for the sensors. If the sensor is made by DENSO, the resistance should fall between 835 to 1,400 Ohms when cold and 1,060 to 1645 Ohms when hot. If the sensor is made by Wabash, the resistance should fall between 1,690 to 2,560 Ohms when cold and 2,145 to 3,010 Ohms when hot. The sensor should have a stamping mark on the inside of the plastic connecting flange indicating which company manufactured it. If the sensor falls outside of these specified values then it is faulty.

    Unplug the power cable that is secured into the horns socket. Remove the horn from the vehicle.

    Slide the new horn into place behind the cars grille. Screw it into place so that it is secure. Plug the cable into the horn.

    Close the hood and clean your work area.
