How to Change the Mirror in a Hyundai Elantra

Tuesday, November 12, 2013 | Labels: , , , , , , , , | |

The mirror in the Hyundai Elantra is mounted to the windshield via a small metal button glued the glass. Because the mirror is on the inside of the windshield, its exposed to extremes in temperature throughout the year. This can cause the glue used to adhere the reflective paint to the mirror to weaken over time. When this happens, you will need to change the mirror in your Hyundai Elantra, but the process is simple and straightforward.

Instructions

    1

Disconnect the wiring harness from the base of the Elantras rear view mirror if the mirror has a compass built into it (depends on the trim package). If your mirror does not have a compass, skip this step.

    2

Remove the Allen screw that secures the mirror to the button glued to the Hyundais windshield.

    3

Slide the mirror upward to remove it from the button.

    4

Slide the replacement mirror onto the button and secure it with the Allen screw.

    5

Reconnect the wiring harness if your replacement mirror has a compass.
