How to Change a Datsun 280ZX Headlight

Datsun 280ZX sports cars were manufactured in the 1970s and 1980s by Nissan. You must replace burnt out and malfunctioning headlights immediately for safety reasons, and also to avoid a traffic citation. You may need to order the replacement headlight due to the vehicles age. You can change a headlight quickly and easily without tools.

Instructions

Purchase the replacement headlight online or from an auto parts store. The retailer can determine the correct bulb based on your cars model and year of manufacture.

Ensure that the vehicle is off and the keys are removed from the ignition. Pop the hood of your car and secure it in place.

Locate the wiring connected to the rear of the headlight housing of the light you are replacing. Grip the light unit with one hand and the wiring with the other and pull the wiring close to where it meets the light to disconnect it.

Turn the light counterclockwise and remove it. Put the old light aside for disposal.

Install the new light by turning it clockwise until you feel resistance, which indicates that it is locked in place. Do not overtighten the headlight.

Connect the wiring to the back of the new headlight. Turn the lights on to test the new bulb.
