BMW E34 cars are the BMW 5 series that were built from 1988 to 1995. The M30 engines are a series of six-cylinder engines that BMW made from 1968 to 1994. The only E34 car with an M30 engine that was sold in the United States is a 535i made from 1988 to 1993. This engine uses electronic fuel injection to deliver fuel to the engines at precise intervals.

Instructions

    1

Disconnect the air intake hose over the fuel rail with a socket wrench to access the fuel rail. Remove the plastic caps that cover the fuel rail.

    2

Remove the pair of screws that attach the electrical plug plate to the fuel injectors with a 25mm socket. Unplug the electrical plate from the fuel injectors.

    3

Disconnect the three mounting bolts on the fuel rail with a socket wrench and lift the fuel rail from the intake manifold. Detach the electrical plugs from the fuel injectors. Remove the retainers from the fuel injectors and disconnect the fuel injectors from the fuel rail.

    4

Replace any damaged O-rings on the fuel injector and lubricate the O-rings with petroleum jelly. Install the fuel injectors to the fuel rail and plug the electrical connectors into the fuel injectors.

    5

Mount the fuel rail to the intake manifold and torque the mounting bolts to between 6.5 and 8.0 ft. lbs. with a torque wrench. Connect the electrical plug plate to the fuel rail and fasten the pair of 5mm screws to the plug plate. Replace the cover and plastic plugs for the fuel rail. Connect the air intake hose.
