How to Troubleshoot a 2002 Chevy Tahoe
Saturday, April 5, 2014 | Labels: 2002, a, chevy, how, tahoe, to, troubleshoot | |Modern vehicles come with a computer system that helps regulate the way the car runs as well as inform the driver when problems arise. A 2002 Chevy Tahoe uses a computer that can be scanned to indicate if there is a problem with the car. The ability to identify a problem quickly, can save both time and money and enable the driver to complete a repair efficiently.
Instructions
- 1
Remove the cover from the fuse box. This box is located below the steering column on the drivers side of the vehicle.
2Plug the diagnostic scanning tool into the 16-pin data link connector (DLC) outlet provided on the left side of the fuse box. Snap it firmly into place but do not force it. If it does not fit correctly the first time, remove and reposition the scanner so that it plugs in correctly.
3Turn the key in the ignition to "On", but do not start the car. Turn on the scanner and wait for the diagnostic check to be completed. Unplug and remove the scanner and replace the fuse cover.
4Access the Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC) on the scanner using the directions on the diagnostic scanner. Retrieve the stored code. Match this stored code to that in the owners manual to determine the Tahoes computer reading.
5Repair or replace the parts needed to ensure the proper running of the Tahoe.
