The Madza RX-7 is a two-seater sports car made by Mazda. The RX-7 is unique in that, unlike almost every other car on the market, the RX-7 uses a rotary engine instead of a piston engine to make its power. This is practically unheard of in the automotive world. The 2-rotor engine, also called a Wankel engine after its inventor, Felix Wankel, has up to 40% fewer parts than a piston engine and is able to create a tremendous amount of power with a lightweight, simple design. With that said, the Mazda RX-7 does have a traditional exhaust system, which includes a catalytic converter. Over time, as in piston engines, these converters eventually burn out and need to be replaced.
Instructions
1 Jack up the front of the RX-7. Place the jack under the front jack point of the RX-7. This is located behind radiator.
2 Place jack stands under the frame of the vehicle and lower the RX-7 onto the jack stands.
3 Unplug the electrical wiring running to the O2 sensor on the catalytic converter.
4 Remove the catalytic converter to exhaust tubing bolts with a socket wrench.
5 Remove the catalytic converter to manifold bolts with a socket wrench.
6 Separate the catalytic converter from both sides of the exhaust. You may need to use a flat head screwdriver to pry the mating surfaces apart.

Replacing the air conditioning filter, also known as a cabin air filter, in your 2002 Honda Accord is a little involved but only requires a single screwdriver to complete the repair. A replacement filter for the Accord is available from the dealer; however, aftermarket filters are also available from auto parts stores, which may be a little cheaper if you are working on a budget.
Instructions
1 Sit in the passengers seat of your Accord with the door open. Locate and remove the two locking tabs on either side of the glove compartment then remove the three mounting screws inside the box with a Phillips head screwdriver.
2 Pull the access panel below the glove compartment loose and remove the two screws below the glove compartment with the screwdriver. Pull the glove compartment out of the dash and set it aside.
3 Remove the screws from the ends of the metal bar with the screwdriver then remove the bar from the dash. Set it aside and locate the white filter behind it. Pull up the access door in front of the filter then pull the filter out of the housing. Discard the old filter.
4 Slide a new filter into the housing, slide the access door over the filter then position the metal bar onto the dash over the filter housing. Install the retaining screws and tighten them with the screwdriver.
5 Push the glove compartment assembly back into the dash and install the retaining screws under the box as well as the three screws on the inside of the box. Use the screwdriver to tighten all the screws until they are snug.
6 Depress the two locking tabs into place, one on either side of the glove compartment, then snap the lower access panel onto the dash. Close the glove compartment.

There are hundreds of different models of cars currently in use in the U.S. Each of these cars has hundreds of model-specific parts and all of these parts can break. Thus the automotive part business was born, and continues to thrive, especially with the use of the Internet. Vehicle owners who can not find a specific part for their vehicle in their home area can order parts online and have them shipped to their home.
Shipping car parts can be expensive due to the weight. But most car parts are not delicate and require minimal preparation to ship.
Instructions
1 Prepare the part to be packaged. Used car parts do not tend to be overly clean, so make sure to drain any fluids from the part and wipe off general grease and automotive dirt before you package the part.
2 Find a cardboard box big enough to fit the part in. Wrap the part securely in the bubble wrap or newspaper and place it in the box. Insert packing slip in box along with part and tape the box shut using packing tape.
3 Select your shipping carrier. Found Value recommends sending auto parts via UPS ground delivery because they tend to be less expensive than other similar shipping companies. However, car parts can be shipped overnight or using a freight company that specializes in shipping awkward items. You can find a local freight company by looking in the phone book or online under "freight" or "trucking."
Once you have selected your shipper, you can take the car part to their local store or call them over the phone to arrange pick up from your home. Typically your shipper will take care of the shipping label when the package is picked up or delivered, but you may wish to write the recipients address on the outside of the box to avoid confusion or questions should any arise.

Replacing a muffler is one of those auto repairs that you cannot ignore. The noise alone can make you crazy, and it isnt good for the exhaust system to avoid replacement. Shop around to find muffler bargains through auto parts stores, websites and installation shops.
Instructions
1 Anticipate replacement. Sometimes mufflers loosen or fall off without warning. Checking during regular vehicle maintenance allows you to anticipate replacement have time to shop around.
2 Get the information you need on size for your make of vehicle. Theres no sense in comparing prices without knowing exactly what you need.
3 Watch for ads on specials. Many muffler repair and replacement shops offer specials throughout the year. Take advantage of specials when anticipating muffler replacement, or if you are lucky, at the time you need it.
4 Shop for mufflers that you or a do-it-yourself friend can install. Many auto parts companies offer bargains through websites. Online auction sites such as eBay also offer auto parts of all kinds.
5 Look at local auto scrapyards. These are especially useful if a muffler needs replacing but you plan to change vehicles within a year or two. You can sometimes walk away with auto parts for under $20 from scrapyards.
6 Take a bargain price to the installer. A muffler repair shop or dealership can quote you their price. It doesnt hurt to let them know you have found it cheaper elsewhere and see if they can match.

Losing the only key to a motor vehicle is inconvenient, stressful and usually costly to replace. If the car was purchased recently with financing, the seller or dealership may have a spare key. Try thorough searching first. Retrace your steps to search unlikely places such as your kitchen and bathrooms --- places that are typically the first stops after coming in to your home to put away groceries or to use the restroom. You may have left your key in these places.
Instructions
1 Contact a local dealership to determine if your specific make and model requires a programmed, laser or transponder key. A programmed key, or "chip key," is somewhat common in newer vehicles. You may be asked to provide your vehicles identification number for the dealership to find out if your specific vehicle requires any special key programming.
2 Contact local locksmiths with your specific requirements; a regular key can usually be affordable and quickly replaced. If a special key is required, ask if the locksmith is able to make a replacement key. In smaller towns it may be difficult to find a local locksmith with the technology to replace chip keys, laser keys and transponder keys. Check pricing costs with several locksmiths if possible to ensure you dont overpay.
3 Contact your local dealership again if you are unable to find a locksmith that can meet your needs. Dealerships are typically more expensive to go through for key replacement, but your vehicle key type may make it necessary to do so. If you have more than one dealership in your area, check prices as they can vary greatly. According to "The Boston Globe," replacing a key at the dealership could cost you anywhere from $80 to as high as $300 or more (as of September 2010); in fact, many dealers are reported to charge separate prices for the replacement key and the re-coding.

The oxygen sensor in your Buick Regal can fail. It must be replaced right away in order for you vehicle to run properly. The oxygen sensor helps regulate the oxygen and fuel ratio. It senses when more or less oxygen needs to be added to the fuel as it moves through the lines. This controls your gas mileage in your Buick. Its a bit challenging to replace the sensor yourself but can save you money.
Instructions
1 Locate the oxygen sensor on the precatalytic converter. This will be located near the front-right wheel well of your Regal.
2 Unhook the large air-intake pipe that is connected to the air box and rear turbo. Also remove the two smaller air pipes that run from the air box to the blowoff. Now locate the oxygen sensor. You will need to soak it in WD-40 in order to loosen it.
3 Use the 7/8-inch wrench to remove the old oxygen sensor. Locate the stock sensor wire near the engine lift loop. Splice the stock sensor wire and connect it to the new oxygen sensor, using crimp connectors. Apply some of the anti-seize paste onto the threads of the new sensor, being careful not to get it on the sensor itself. This makes it easy to remove next time.
4 Screw on the new sensor as tight as you can by hand. Then use the wrench to fully tighten it. Snap the connector wires back into the wire holders. Reattach the air pipes again.

There could be a few reasons that you need to make a new key for your auto. You might have lost your old key or maybe you want to have a spare key on hand just in case. Making a new auto key these days is a little more complicated than is used to be. Modern auto keys contain programmed microchips that are specific to your particular auto. This means you cant simply head down to the local key shop and have a duplicate made. You will have to work with your car dealer.
Instructions
1 Locate the vehicle identification number (VIN) on your auto. This number can be found on the right side of your dashboard near the windshield, under the hood, or on the inside of the drivers side door.
2 Go to the dealership where you purchased your car or any dealership that sells the make and model of your car. For example, if you own a Ford Fusion, you would visit a Ford dealer. You may need to call in advance to make an appointment. An added benefit of an appointment is that it could help you avoid a long wait at the dealership.
3 Give the employee at the dealership your VIN and drivers license. This is required for security and identification purposes and it will establish that you are the rightful owner of the car. If you are making a duplicate key and have the original, give that key to the dealer.
4 Wait for the dealers employee to make a new key. The key will be programmed with the security codes unique to your car. The entire procedure will take about one hour.
