Retrieve the ABS codes from your 94 Saturn right from your home garage to save yourself both time and money. The 94 Saturn comes equipped with an On-Board Diagnostics I computer (OBD I), that retrieves and stores all trouble codes, such as the ABS codes. ABS stands for Anti-lock Braking System. When sensors in the ABS detect a malfunction, they send the code to the computer which, in turn, illuminates the ABS light on the dash. You can retrieve these ABS codes using an OBD I code scanner, which can be purchased from any auto parts retailer.

Instructions

    1

Locate the OBD I port on the drivers side dashboard near the steering column. Its the same size and shape as the connector on the OBD I code scanner.

    2

Plug the scanner into the port and put the key into the ignition. Turn it to the "II" position but dont start the engine.

    3

Wait for the scanner to turn on and select the "Read Codes" command or similarly worded instruction. Wait for the code scanner to interface with the computer. Write down the codes on a piece of paper.

    4

Look up the meaning of the codes in the manual. Unplug the scanner and have the braking system repaired based on the information obtained from the codes.
